| Weiscos are perfectly good pistons. Been using them on DSM's since 98 with about an average of 70 k miles logged on the 2 DSM motors that we have in our personal cars. On most of the Z motors we are building we use Weiscos Arias are better (less expansion), Ross are stronger. Z1 does not have the cheapest price on Wesicos. Oil cooling in the piston crown reduces expansion of the crown thus allowing you to run closer tolerences - has nothing to do with detonation. Some Deisels run oil galleries in the crown because they have to be made thicker/ stronger since they have higher static compression (18:1 on turbo aps). Since thicker crowns expand more they have to run cooler IF you want tighter clearances between piston / cylinder walls. BTW disel engine construction is far different from gas engines and should not be compared. I wish people would stop attacking each other and spend some time on making their cars faster. Harry
